Assessment of your real working posture
Observation of how you sit, where the screen, keyboard and arms sit at your actual desk, to identify what is repeatedly loading the neck and shoulders.
Neck, shoulder and upper back pain from long hours at a screen tends to return whenever the working setup stays the same. A home visit means your actual desk — the one you use every day — is what gets assessed.
Office syndrome is not one condition but a group of symptoms produced by holding a position for long periods while repeatedly loading the same muscles. The result is tightness through the neck, shoulders and shoulder blades, while the muscles that should be supporting them do less and less.
What makes it persist is an unchanged workstation. Screen height, keyboard distance, chair height and where the arms rest all determine which muscle groups carry the load all day.
Working in your home means the setup is assessed directly rather than described from memory, so the adjustments can be made the same day.
These symptoms usually track with working posture and how long you spend at a screen without a break.
Care addresses both the symptoms and the setup that produced them, to reduce how often they return.
Observation of how you sit, where the screen, keyboard and arms sit at your actual desk, to identify what is repeatedly loading the neck and shoulders.
Assessment of tightness through the neck, shoulders and shoulder blades, the strength of the muscles that stabilise the shoulder blade, and neck and shoulder range of movement.
Physiotherapy techniques matched to the assessment findings, reducing tightness before strength work begins.
Work on the under-used muscle groups so they take load back from the ones that have become overtight.
Recommendations for screen height, chair, keyboard position and a realistic rhythm for changing position through the working day.
A set of exercises brief enough to be done reliably, even on busy days.
Each visit runs approximately 60 minutes and covers the following.
Usually not. The plan is designed to run alongside your normal work, by changing the setup and adding more frequent position changes through the day.
Massage can feel relieving in the short term. Physiotherapy assesses the underlying movement and strength factors and builds a plan aimed at reducing how often the symptoms return.
Please leave your desk set up exactly as you actually use it, including the chair, screen and everyday equipment, so the assessment reflects real daily use.
Yes. The therapist will advise on raising the screen, using a separate keyboard and supporting the arms, working first with whatever you already have in the house.
Appointments are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, subject to availability and initial screening. Please book at least one hour in advance.
